Neglect2Early Life

Anselme Burinyuy was born in Kumbo. His parents Ngalim Eugene Shang and Mrs Mary Kila are both of the Nso tribe and of the Cameroonian decent. His grand father, Shey Joseph Kifem was a huge influence in his life, this is demonstrated by his popular slang ‘Shey Joe Kifem’ which resonates in his songs. He is a Catholic, during his early childhood he was a mass boy and a drummer in the church choir. His interest in sound and music started in the church choir, where he will make his own compositions and little modifications to the songs he played. He attended St. John Bosco’s Catholic Primary School Mbveh, Kumbo and Government Bilingual High School (G.B.H.S) Kumbo.

In the earlier classes at G.B.H.S Kumbo his interest in music and the Hip Hop culture spiked. He did outstanding performances at the school socials and at other local events which gained him first place in almost all of these shows. He started off as a dancer and shortly gained interest in Rap music. Apart from just rap he also did dancehall, reggae and afro-pop. He was also a great MC. He worked with his friends Dijay Karl, Phland, Sabizulus, G-dip,Roqzen, Vanes Pee and many others. Most of whom he still works a great deal with today. Music was the connecting point between him and his pals, that’s much of what they did for fun.

He created a music club in school which held both in school and in one of his grand mothers old building. At these meetings everyone was given an opportunity to perform and show cases their talent. This club was called Toronto.

He later went to Yaounde to School. He enrolled at the University of Yaounde I and CITEC where he graduated as a Telecom Technician.

Career

While in  Yaounde he met Sultan Oshimi at Centre Culturel Francais, who later became his mentor. They did a lot of studio sessions together and Neglect recoreded a song for him as a symbol of respect. During this time he was invited on several occasions on Crtv radio Yaounde, FM 94. At Crtv he also bonded  with TV legendery presenter, Alain Dexter who called him up on many occasions on both tv and radio.

Later with friends they formed the first organised record label, Warrior records. Under Warrior records he recorded several songs included a joined mixtape he did with Dijay Karl and the others on the special occasion of the NGONSO FESTIVAL. These songs went viral like wild fire amongst all Nso people from different parts of the globe.

When appointed to Kumba as a Telecom technician for Nexttel, he re-united with friends in neighbouring Buea to revive KBHOOD MUZIK. KBHOOD-MUZIK is a music group Dijay Karl founded earlier during secondary school days. Its under KBHOOD that he officially launched a professional career in music. With a lot of work in the pipeline he will be releasing his first official single ‘Aboloshi’ and a video for his dancehall mega jam- ‘Fool for you’. His career has been planned and strategised. His entire album and many more songs are ready.

Style of Music

Neglect is a different kind of artist. He is not specific on a paticular genre. He is great at Indeginous rap, Dancehall/Reggae, Afro pop and much more. He likes to call his style the ‘Neglect Music’. He continues to try new things and come up with great stuffs. His versatility makes him stand out as probably the most comprehensive artist in the country.
