Stephanie Noella Zemenkie Tekonang popularly known as “Zemie” is a Cameroonia11221496_769612223147608_3389276714802888417_on afro-pop singer resident in the United States. Born December 19 th 1992 in Mankon, Bamenda to Tekonang James of South-West origin and Nguea Lawrentine of West origin, Zemie is the second of four children. She attended primary school in Presbyterian School Azire and Secondary school in Presbyterian Secondary School Nkwen where she joined her school choir and formed a girl music group to sing for fun. She drove solo when she moved to Presbyterian Secondary School Mankon to

complete her high school education. Fascinated by music’s power to capture and channel emotions, Zemie took to writing. The words came with melody and slowly, she felt the urge to share her messages. Her love for dancing and artists like Grace Decca, Chantal Ayissi, Monique Seka, Annie Anzouer, Kotto Bass, Charlotte Dipanda, Beyonce, Britney Spears and Tiwa Savage inspired Zemie to create music that blended afrobeats with native genres like bikutsi, makossa and bensikin. Formerly known as Jo’Shady, her debut video was “Getting on my bad side” in 2010 and was

shortly followed by singles like “Chakara”,”Push hard”, “This feeling” and “I deh”. She took a break from music to concentrate in school and graduated with a degree in Journalism and Mass Communication from the University of Buea. She relocated to the U.S.A where she became part of TafSound Productions, an African music label in 2014. Her message is focused on influencing young people to chase their dreams, stay positive and have faith in the possibilities of tomorrow. Exploring her culture, experiences and creativity, she hopes to score an international deal to inspire lovers of music worldwide. Her debut single under TafSound Productions -“CHOWEH” produced by WillBeatz will be released August 2015.
